  • What did they say?: They asked for my name - they were writing it down. They seemed to express sympathy. I expressed by desire to go to Argentina in the New Year and that I did not want to see devastation of forests when I got there, but rather the native plant and animal species. He said that he understood.
    I think he listened and was sympathetic. Although, I will say that he was not forthcoming with information about what he was going to do about my call.

    What did they say?: she told me to express my concern by e-mail writing at ambasciata.argentina@hotmail.it, or to call another day. So I\'ll call again tomorrow morning. She immediately understood why I was calling, as if they\'d already got many calls about this issue.

    ¿What did they say?: Consulate in Bonn: She listened to me and then told me to visit the site www.medioambiente.gov.ar because there you can write straight to the government (wonder if it\'ll be read). She said the form is on the left site (I haven\'t found it yet) and she told me that several people phoned her before. (Nice to hear :-))
    Embassy in Berlin: she gave me immediately the e-mail-address when I said I was concerned about the forest. It\'s info@argentinische-botschaft.de
    What do you think of their response to your call?: It\'s OK but a bit disappointing. I mean I just talked to the secretaries and I wonder if they\'re going to tell it someone in a higher position.

  • Who did you speak to at the embassy or consulate?: I called both in Shanghai and in Beijing. I spoke with the receptionist in Shanghai and I think the communication manager in Beijing.
    What did they say?: Beijing said to send them a note and Shanghai too but ask to fax them description of the situation and what we want.
    What do you think of their response to your call?: The person I sopke to in Beijing politely answered me but was not concerned at all, however they seems a little bit more interested in Shanghai. Do you have any prepared docuement I can send them to follow up on this ?

  • Who did you speak to at the embassy or consulate?: I did not speak to anybody: I sent an email to the Argentinian Embassy in Belgium and in UK. Additionally to all the reasons you gave against deforestation, I also said that I was seriously planning to travel to Argentina (which is fully true), but that I would not as long as they do not stop the deforestation (which is also true).
